For a 40-year-old driver with a clean record, Bayou Cane car insurance averages about $250 a month ($3,000 a year) for full coverage, based on the rates insurers had filed with state regulators as of Aug. 31, 2026. That’s 17% below the Louisiana average of $300 a month. Full-coverage averages in Bayou Cane run from about $137 to $333 a month across the three major insurers we compared (GEICO, Progressive and Southern Farm Bureau).
Bayou Cane is one of the least expensive of the 18 Louisiana cities we publish guides for: about $50 a month less than the Louisiana average, and about the same as Houma.
Bayou Cane addresses mostly use a Houma mailing address, so this guide uses 70360, the ZIP code that covers most of Bayou Cane. That ZIP code reaches into neighboring areas, and a few edges of Bayou Cane fall in other ZIP codes. 70360 is also one of the three ZIP codes in our Houma guide, so the Bayou Cane and Houma averages overlap.
Cost data comes from the auto rates insurers file with state regulators, priced in Bayou Cane’s ZIP code, compiled by Quadrant Information Services and updated as new rates are filed.

Full coverage in Bayou Cane averages $3,000 a year, or about $250 a month, for our benchmark driver. Liability-only coverage at Louisiana’s 15/30/25 minimum averages $882 a year ($74 a month), and 50/100/50 liability with comprehensive and collision averages $2,621 ($218 a month).
Southern Farm Bureau’s Bayou Cane average, about $137 a month, is 53% below GEICO’s ($291), a lead wide enough that we show the range instead of naming a single cheapest insurer. The published 2026 statewide Louisiana rate studies we reviewed most often rank Farm Bureau cheapest for full coverage: three of the six put it first. For liability-only coverage at 15/30/25 limits, averages run from about $46 to $91 a month; the lowest is far enough below the rest that we don’t name a cheapest insurer for that coverage level.

Raising liability limits from 50/100/50 to 100/300/100 adds about $379 a year on average in our Bayou Cane data, with the same $500 deductibles. That’s about $32 a month for double the per-person injury limit, three times the per-crash limit and double the property damage limit, and the full-coverage package also raises uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to 100/300.
Not for our benchmark driver. Comparing the same insurers in the same Bayou Cane ZIP code, full coverage averaged $3,049 a year nine months earlier and $3,000 in rates as of Aug. 31, 2026, a 1.6% drop. Progressive cut its Bayou Cane average 3.2% and USAA 2.2%, while GEICO’s and Southern Farm Bureau’s averages were unchanged. State Farm’s latest rates are from November 2025, so it’s left out of this comparison. Liability-only coverage at 15/30/25 limits fell 4.6%, led by USAA, which cut its liability-only average 13.7%.
Terrebonne Parish averages about $249 a month for full coverage, the 19th-least expensive of the 61 Louisiana parishes we price.

Insurers must file their rates and rating rules with each state’s insurance regulator. Quadrant Information Services uses those filings to calculate what each insurer would charge a specific driver, and InsuranceQuotes analyzes those prices. This page uses rates in effect on Aug. 31, 2026.
Coverage requirements come from Louisiana law and the Louisiana Department of Insurance. We refresh these figures when new rate data is released.

It depends on the coverage. For full coverage, averages in Bayou Cane run from about $137 to $333 a month across the three major insurers we compared, and the gap between the two lowest is too wide for us to call one insurer the cheapest. For liability-only coverage, averages run from about $46 to $91 a month. Of the six published 2026 statewide Louisiana rate studies we reviewed, three rank Farm Bureau cheapest for full coverage. Rates vary by driver, so compare quotes for your own car and ZIP code.

Liability-only coverage won’t pay to repair or replace your own car after a crash, a theft or a storm. Louisiana law doesn’t require full coverage, but a lender or leasing company may.
