That’s 36% above the Massachusetts average of $182 a month. Plymouth Rock has the lowest full-coverage average of the five insurers we price, at about $162 a month.
Springfield costs more than all but 18 of the 285 Massachusetts places we price for our benchmark driver: about $65 a month more than the Massachusetts average. Of the 15 Hampden County places we price, only Springfield’s Indian Orchard neighborhood (ZIP code 01151), which has its own mailing name, costs more, at $249 a month; our Springfield figures cover the eight ZIP codes with a Springfield mailing address. Hampden County is the second-most expensive of the 14 counties, after Suffolk.

Raising liability limits from 50/100/50 to 100/300/100 adds about $79 a year on average in our Springfield data, with the same $500 deductibles. That’s about $7 a month for double the per-person injury limit, three times the per-crash limit and double the property damage limit, and the full-coverage package also raises uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to 100/300. Plymouth Rock and Progressive charge less for 100/300/100 than for 50/100/50 for our benchmark driver.
