For a 40-year-old driver with a clean record, Meridian car insurance averages about $136 a month ($1,629 a year) for full coverage, based on the rates insurers had filed with state regulators as of Aug. 31, 2026. That’s 11% below the Idaho average of $153 a month. Of the insurers open to all drivers, State Farm has the lowest full-coverage average in our Meridian table, at about $97 a month.
Meridian has the lowest full-coverage average of the 57 Idaho cities and towns we price, about $136 a month for our benchmark driver. That’s about $17 a month less than the Idaho average and $5 a year less than Boise, so the two cost about the same.
Both Meridian ZIP codes we price are close: 83642, on the south side, averages about $135 a month and 83646, to the north, about $136.

The recent statewide Idaho rate studies we reviewed don’t agree on which insurer is cheapest for full coverage. Raising liability limits from 50/100/50 to 100/300/100 barely changes the average in our Meridian data: with the same $500 deductibles, full coverage averages $1,629 a year and 50/100/50 averages $1,607. The full-coverage package doubles the per-person injury limit, triples the per-crash limit and doubles the property damage limit, and it raises uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to 100/300. Allstate and Farmers charge less for 100/300/100 than for 50/100/50 for our benchmark driver.
Yes, for our benchmark driver. Comparing the same insurers in the same Meridian ZIP codes, full coverage averaged $1,576 a year in rates as of Nov. 30, 2025, and $1,629 as of Aug. 31, 2026, a 3.4% increase. Allstate raised its average 7.5%, Farmers 4.5% and State Farm 2.7%, while Idaho Farm Bureau’s and Safeco’s averages were unchanged. Liability-only coverage at 25/50/15 limits rose 7.8%, led by Farmers, which raised its liability-only average 18.4%.
Ada County averages about $138 a month for full coverage, the least expensive of the 32 Idaho counties we price.
