For a 40-year-old driver with a clean record, Kokomo car insurance averages about $165 a month ($1,977 a year) for full coverage, based on the rates insurers had filed with state regulators as of Aug. 31, 2026. That’s 8% below the Indiana average of $180 a month. Progressive has the lowest full-coverage average among the insurers we rank, at about $100 a month.
Kokomo is priced below the Indiana average for our benchmark driver: about $15 a month less than the Indiana average and about $27 a month less than Indianapolis.

Your ZIP code matters
Raising liability limits from 50/100/50 to 100/300/100 barely changes the average in our Kokomo data: with the same $500 deductibles, full coverage averages $1,977 a year and 50/100/50 averages $1,971. The full-coverage package doubles the per-person injury limit, triples the per-crash limit and doubles the property damage limit, and it raises uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to 100/300. Allstate and Auto-Owners charge less for 100/300/100 than for 50/100/50 for our benchmark driver.

Progressive cut its Kokomo average 2.2%, while Indiana Farm Bureau raised its average 3.2% and Auto-Owners 0.5%; Allstate’s average was unchanged. State Farm’s latest rates are from November 2025, so it’s left out of this comparison. Howard County averages about $165 a month for full coverage, the 68th-most expensive of the 86 Indiana counties we price.

Prices rise a little to the north: Peru averages about $174 a month and Logansport, to the northwest, $176, while Tipton, south of Kokomo, averages $159.
