Travelers, GEICO, USAA, Auto-Owners and Shelter aren’t in the Quadrant rate data we analyze, so their rows in the table are estimates. Raising liability limits from 50/100/50 to 100/300/100 adds about $59 a year in our Richmond data, with the same $500 deductibles. That’s about $5 a month for three times the injury protection per crash and double the property damage limit. The step up is small partly because Safeco charges more for 50/100/50 than for 100/300/100 in every Kentucky ZIP code we price.
Not for our benchmark driver. Comparing the same insurers in the same Richmond ZIP code, full coverage averaged $2,441 a year in rates as of Nov. 30, 2025 and $2,261 as of Aug. 31, 2026, a 7.4% drop. Progressive cut its Richmond average 22.8%, Kentucky Farm Bureau 9.5% and State Farm 8.7%, while Allstate and Safeco didn’t change theirs. Liability-only coverage at 25/50/10 limits fell 4.7%: Progressive cut its average 16.3% and State Farm 7.0%, while Kentucky Farm Bureau raised its 1.9%.
Insurers price each territory on the claims they expect there, and Madison County, which includes Richmond and Berea, is the least expensive of the 99 Kentucky counties we price, at $2,266 a year for full coverage. Berea averages about $189 a month.
