Raising liability limits from 50/100/50 to 100/300/100 adds about $533 a year on average in our Jacksonville data, with the same $500 deductibles. That’s about $44 a month for double the per-person injury limit, three times the per-crash limit and double the property damage limit, and the full-coverage package also raises uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to 100/300.
Not for our benchmark driver. Comparing the three insurers that are in both sets of rates, in the same Jacksonville ZIP codes, their full-coverage average fell from $4,762 a year nine months earlier to $4,289 in rates as of Aug. 31, 2026, a 9.9% drop. Progressive cut its Jacksonville average 17.5%, GEICO 4.7% and Allstate 4.0%. Travelers is new in our rates over the past nine months, so it’s left out, which is why these averages differ from the Jacksonville average above. State Farm’s latest rates are from November 2025, so it’s left out of this comparison. Liability-only coverage at 15/30/10 limits fell 9.6%, led by Progressive, which cut its liability-only average 14.5%.
Duval County averages about $321 a month for full coverage, the 12th-most expensive of the 66 Florida counties we price, and Jacksonville is right at that average. Towns in the neighboring counties cost less: Orange Park, in Clay County to the southwest, averages about $308 a month, St. Johns, in St. Johns County to the south, $286 and Yulee, in Nassau County to the north, $294.
Travelers and GEICO are close here, at about $211 and $218 a month for full coverage, while Progressive and Allstate average about $420 and $435 for the same driver and car.
More Florida cities and towns are in the Florida rates by city table, and you can compare states on our car insurance rates by state page.
Gainesville, about 62 miles southwest, averages $257 a month and Daytona Beach, about 85 miles southeast, $287. Tallahassee, about 155 miles west, averages $271.
Drivers in Jacksonville follow Florida’s rules. Every vehicle registered in Florida must carry at least:
Bodily injury liability isn’t required for most Florida drivers. You need it after certain at-fault injury crashes, at 10/20 with an SR-22 filing for three years, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, or after a DUI conviction, at 100/300/50 with an FR-44 filing for at least three years, under Florida Statutes section 324.023. Uninsured motorist coverage comes with any bodily injury liability policy unless you reject it in writing, under section 627.727.
Florida’s no-fault law is still in place. The 2026 bills that would have repealed it, S.B. 522 and H.B. 769, died in committee on March 13, 2026. Our Florida requirements guide covers the no-fault rules and the penalties for letting coverage lapse.

Insurers must file their rates and rating rules with each state’s insurance regulator. Quadrant Information Services uses those filings to calculate what each insurer would charge a specific driver, and InsuranceQuotes analyzes those prices. This page uses rates in effect on Aug. 31, 2026.
Coverage requirements come from Florida law and the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. We refresh these figures when new rate data is released.
