For a 40-year-old driver with a clean record, Farmington car insurance averages about $171 a month ($2,050 a year) for full coverage, based on the rates insurers had filed with state regulators as of Aug. 31, 2026. That’s 17% below the New Mexico average of $205 a month. Progressive has the lowest full-coverage average of the four insurers we price, at about $109 a month.
Farmington is the least expensive of our New Mexico city guides. Our benchmark driver pays about $171 a month here, about $34 a month less than the state average and about $63 a month less than in Albuquerque.

Your ZIP code matters
Raising liability limits from 50/100/50 to 100/300/100 adds about $154 a year on average in our Farmington data, with the same $500 deductibles. That’s about $13 a month for double the per-person injury limit, three times the per-crash limit and double the property damage limit, and the full-coverage package also raises uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to 100/300.
Not for our benchmark driver. Comparing the same insurers in the same Farmington ZIP codes, full coverage averaged $2,064 a year in rates as of Nov. 30, 2025, and $2,050 as of Aug. 31, 2026, a 0.7% drop. Progressive cut its Farmington average 9.2%, while Farmers raised its average 3.3%, and Allstate and GEICO didn’t change theirs. State Farm isn’t in the August 2026 rates, so it’s left out of this comparison. Liability-only coverage at 25/50/10 limits rose 4.5%, led by Farmers, which raised its liability-only average 15.3%.
The Four Corners area is one of the least expensive parts of New Mexico in our data. San Juan County averages $2,075 a year for full coverage, the second-least expensive of the 26 counties we price. Nearby Aztec and Bloomfield average about $174 a month each, and Kirtland $172.
