That’s 9% below the New Mexico average of $205 a month. GEICO has the lowest full-coverage average of the four insurers we price, at about $112 a month.
Las Cruces is one of the less expensive places to insure a car in New Mexico. Our benchmark driver pays about $18 a month less here than the state average and about $47 a month less than in Albuquerque.

USAA, Central Insurance, Nationwide and Farm Bureau Financial Services aren’t in the Quadrant rate data we analyze, so their rows in the table are estimates. Every published 2026 statewide New Mexico rate study we reviewed ranks GEICO cheapest statewide for full coverage, apart from USAA, which sells only to military families. For liability-only coverage at 25/50/10 limits, Progressive has the lowest average among the insurers we price, at about $38 a month, followed by GEICO at $49.

Your ZIP code matters
Raising liability limits from 50/100/50 to 100/300/100 adds about $176 a year on average in our Las Cruces data, with the same $500 deductibles. That’s about $15 a month for double the per-person injury limit, three times the per-crash limit and double the property damage limit, and the full-coverage package also raises uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to 100/300.
Not by much, for our benchmark driver. Comparing the same insurers in the same Las Cruces ZIP codes, full coverage averaged $2,244 a year in rates as of Nov. 30, 2025, and $2,240 as of Aug. 31, 2026, a 0.2% drop. Progressive cut its Las Cruces average 8.6%, while Farmers raised its average 4.9%, and Allstate and GEICO didn’t change theirs. State Farm isn’t in the August 2026 rates, so it’s left out of this comparison. Liability-only coverage at 25/50/10 limits rose 5.6%, led by Farmers, which raised its liability-only average 17.8%.
Doña Ana County averages $2,259 a year for full coverage in our data, the eighth-least expensive of the 26 New Mexico counties we price. Nearby towns are priced about the same: Anthony averages about $187 a month, Santa Teresa $188, Chaparral $192 and Sunland Park $195.
