For a 40-year-old driver with a clean record, St. George car insurance averages about $218 a month ($2,618 a year) for full coverage, based on the rates insurers had filed with state regulators as of Aug. 31, 2026. That’s 10% below the Utah average of $242 a month. Auto-Owners has the lowest full-coverage average among the insurers we rank, at about $148 a month.
St. George, the Washington County seat in Utah’s southwest corner, is one of the less expensive Utah cities in our data: about $24 a month less than the Utah average and about $43 a month less than Salt Lake City.
Both St. George ZIP codes we price are close: 84790 averages about $217 a month and 84770 about $219.

Your ZIP code matters
Raising liability limits from 50/100/50 to 100/300/100 adds about $162 a year on average in our St. George data, with the same $500 deductibles. That’s about $14 a month for double the per-person injury limit, three times the per-crash limit and double the property damage limit, and the full-coverage package also raises uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to 100/300. Auto-Owners charges less for 100/300/100 than for 50/100/50 for our benchmark driver.
Yes, for our benchmark driver. Comparing the five insurers that are in both sets of rates, in the same St. George ZIP codes, their full-coverage average rose from $2,726 a year in rates as of Nov. 30, 2025, to $2,787 as of Aug. 31, 2026, a 2.2% increase. Farmers raised its average 5.8% and State Farm 3.6%, while Allstate’s, GEICO’s and Progressive’s averages were about unchanged. Auto-Owners is new in our rates since November 2025, so it’s left out, which is why these averages differ from the St. George average above. Liability-only coverage at 25/70/15 limits rose 3.0%, led by Farmers, which raised its liability-only average 15.0%.
Washington County averages about $218 a month for full coverage, less than Salt Lake, Utah, Davis and Weber counties along the Wasatch Front. Salt Lake County, the most expensive of the 21 Utah counties we price, averages $260.
Nearby towns are priced about the same: Washington averages about $219 a month, Santa Clara $218 and Ivins $220, while Hurricane, to the east, averages $213. Where you live is one of the factors Utah insurers use, so neighboring cities can be priced differently.
