For a 40-year-old driver with a clean record, Kearney car insurance averages about $207 a month ($2,484 a year) for full coverage, based on the rates insurers had filed with state regulators as of Aug. 31, 2026. That’s 8% below the Nebraska average of $224 a month. Progressive and Farmers Mutual of Nebraska are effectively tied for the lowest full-coverage average among insurers open to all drivers in our Kearney table, at about $134 and $136 a month.
Kearney is the second-least expensive of the eight Nebraska cities we publish guides for, after Lincoln. Our benchmark driver pays about $17 a month less than the Nebraska average here, and about $32 a month less than in Omaha.

Your ZIP code matters
Raising liability limits from 50/100/50 to 100/300/100 adds about $75 a year on average in our Kearney data, with the same $500 deductibles. That’s about $6 a month for double the per-person injury limit, three times the per-crash limit and double the property damage limit, and the full-coverage package also raises uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to 100/300. Allstate charges less for 100/300/100 than for 50/100/50 for our benchmark driver.

Comparing the same insurers in the same Kearney ZIP codes, full coverage averaged $2,685 a year in rates as of Nov. 30, 2025, and $2,484 as of Aug. 31, 2026, a 7.5% drop. Progressive cut its Kearney average 24.6% and Farm Bureau Financial Services 13.3%, while Allstate raised its average 6.7%; Farmers Mutual of Nebraska’s average was unchanged. State Farm’s latest rates are from November 2025, so it’s left out of this comparison. Prices rise to the west along Interstate 80: Lexington, in Dawson County, averages about $229 a month and North Platte $242, and Holdrege, to the southwest in Phelps County, is closer to Kearney’s price, at $212.
