For a 40-year-old driver with a clean record, Omaha car insurance averages about $239 a month ($2,865 a year) for full coverage, based on the rates insurers had filed with state regulators as of Aug. 31, 2026. That’s 7% above the Nebraska average of $224 a month. Farmers Mutual of Nebraska has the lowest full-coverage average of the four insurers we price, at about $147 a month.
Omaha is the most expensive of the eight Nebraska cities we publish guides for. Our benchmark driver pays about $15 a month more than the Nebraska average here, and about $36 a month more than in Lincoln.
Our data covers 29 ZIP codes with an Omaha mailing address, from about $211 a month in 68130 and 68138 to $287 in 68111. Omaha also has the highest liability-only average of the 38 Nebraska cities and towns we price, about $59 a month, compared with $50 statewide.

Full coverage in Omaha averages $2,865 a year, or about $239 a month, for our benchmark driver. Liability-only coverage at Nebraska’s 25/50/25 minimum averages $707 a year ($59 a month), and 50/100/50 liability with comprehensive and collision averages $2,729 ($227 a month).
Farmers Mutual of Nebraska has the lowest full-coverage average among the four insurers in our Omaha rate data. The published 2026 statewide Nebraska rate studies we reviewed don’t agree on the cheapest insurer for full coverage. Of the seven that price it, two put Farmers Mutual of Nebraska first and two GEICO, apart from USAA, which sells only to military families, and the other three name other insurers. Farmers Mutual of Nebraska is first or second in all five that include it. For liability-only coverage at 25/50/25 limits, Progressive has the lowest average among the insurers we price, at about $33 a month, with Farmers Mutual of Nebraska close behind at $34.

Your ZIP code matters
Raising liability limits from 50/100/50 to 100/300/100 adds about $136 a year on average in our Omaha data, with the same $500 deductibles. That’s about $11 a month for double the per-person injury limit, three times the per-crash limit and double the property damage limit, and the full-coverage package also raises uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to 100/300.
Not for our benchmark driver. Comparing the same insurers in the same Omaha ZIP codes, full coverage averaged $3,010 a year in rates as of Nov. 30, 2025, and $2,865 as of Aug. 31, 2026, a 4.8% drop. Progressive cut its Omaha average 20.3% and Farm Bureau Financial Services 9.3%, while Allstate raised its average 8.4%; Farmers Mutual of Nebraska’s average was unchanged. State Farm’s latest rates are from November 2025, so it’s left out of this comparison. Liability-only coverage at 25/50/25 limits fell 1.0%, led by Progressive, which cut its liability-only average 18.2%.
Douglas County averages about $240 a month for full coverage, the eighth-most expensive of the 30 Nebraska counties we price. The seven ahead of it are all in the western half of the state, led by Keith County, home to Ogallala, at $252.
Prices are lower in western Douglas County: Elkhorn averages about $216 a month and Bennington, to the northwest, $220. Three Omaha ZIP codes, 68136, 68138 and 68157, are in Sarpy County, which averages $218. Where you live is one of the factors Nebraska insurers use, so neighboring towns can be priced differently.
